Damien Olsen Berdichevsky

Damien is a multi-disciplinary artist who throughout his life has consistently created art and music. He was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1961 to a Ukrainian Jewish immigrant family. He studied Psychology and Dance Theater at the University of Buenos Aires and at the University of Santa Catarina, Florianopolis, Brazil. Later he lived in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil where he studied African Dance, percussion and sculpture. Damien also studied Zen and History of Buddhism at Shobo-An Zen Center in Cordoba, Argentina from 1986-89. In 1999, Damien moved to New York, eventually settling in Brooklyn and becoming a naturalized citizen. Throughout all this time, Damien has continued to work in sculpture, painting, photography, video and music. He studied musical composition and free jazz improvisation with Raol Bjorkenheim. He also has performed at a variety of venues in the NYC area, both solo and collaboratively. At Film Noir Cinema in Greenpoint, Olsen has recurrently performed live scores for films including: The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, Nosferatu, House, The Great Silence, and Django. Damien has completed over twenty conceptual albums in various styles of electronic music.
