Preliminary project idea for LABA

“Explosion” is an intimate and emotional play that tells the story of a deaf woman and her hearing daughter. The narrative unfolds through the first-person perspective of the daughter, who shares her memories, documents, and family archives to immerse the audience in a world filled with linguistic and emotional challenges.

The protagonist guides us through a series of episodes that explore the painful events of her childhood as the daughter of deaf parents. From the complexity of being a child interpreter for her mother—whose access to language is limited due to various circumstances—to the feeling of disappearing when her mother closes her eyes and ceases to perceive the outside world audibly.
