This year, LABA Barcelona participated for the first time in the Barcelona Viu Montjuïc culture and nature weekend, organized by the Municipality of Barcelona.
With Remembering Oblivion, a series of multidisciplinary artistic interventions at the medieval Jewish cemetery of Montjuïc by LABA BCN 2024 alumni artists, the project sought to bring back into collective memory the ancient Jewish cemetery of Montjuïc—forgotten for centuries—and to make its history visible through art. Its goal was to share this story with a broad audience and to keep its memory alive, understanding art as a powerful instrument of commemoration and dialogue with a difficult heritage.
The large-scale calligraphic installations by Didac Pintor evoked the lives of some of the individuals identified from the 18 tombstones discovered.
Gil Dori created an ephemeral soundscape that blended original music with sounds recorded in the cemetery and in the Call, reflecting on the passage of time and memory.
Dafne Ortiz presented an informational comic that narrated the rich and complex story of the site through the eyes of a young explorer.
